The Area

The most popular ski routes in Bláfjöll are the North Route and Kóngsgilið. Both can be accessed via Kóngurinn (the new chairlift) and Drottningin (the old chairlift). Near Kóngurinn, you’ll also find Lilli Klifurmús (City Lift) and the Snowboard Lift for Mohawk’s park. Above the Bláfjöll Lodge are the beginner lifts Amma Mús and Hérastubbur, along with children’s play equipment. Below the Bláfjöll Lodge are the easiest slopes for beginners with the Magic Carpet and the rope lift Patti Broddgöltur, which are free to use.

Further south, we come to Sólskinsbrekka and Suðurgil. In Sólskinsbrekka, there’s the T-bar lift Mikki refur, the beginner lift Kormákur Afi, the twin lifts Jón Oddur and Jón Bjarni, and the beginner lift Amma dreki. It’s easy to move between Sólskinsbrekka and Kóngsgilið by following the groomed trail connecting the areas, or by using the rope lift Bangsadrengur near Mikki Refur.

Skiers and Snowboarders

For beginners, we especially recommend staying near the lodges, where the easiest lifts are located.

Along the North Route is Mohawk’s Park, a snow park with jumps for snowboarders and freestyle skiers. It can be accessed from above via Kóngurinn and Drottningin, and there’s also a dedicated T-bar lift serving the snow park.

We urge everyone to be cautious around snow cornices outside the designated ski area due to avalanche risk.

According to ski area safety rules, snowboarders must always keep one foot strapped in while using the lifts, and never let skis or boards slide away uncontrolled.

Accidents and Incidents

If you witness an accident in the ski area, immediately notify staff or call 112, and specially trained field responders will respond.

We gladly treat minor injuries at the Bláfjöll Lodge – please enter through the staff entrance on the north gable of the building. Our staff are happy and obligated to provide whatever assistance they are capable of offering.
